Life is full of transitions and change. This artwork is symbolic of several transitions in my personal life. Years ago, I created a similar artwork that was inspired by Colossians 1:13 and my interest in plants that grow back shortly after a forest fire. Fire can be a devastating thing, but it can also bring about a life that is reliant on its extreme heat and ability to create space. I find it especially interesting that some plants need to be exposed to fire to grow and reproduce. Sometimes in life, we need challenges to help us grow. I created this piece with collaged, handprinted papers and acrylic paint/media on a canvas.
