The botanical world is woven into the realms of art and science, providing materials for artmaking, a muse for inspiration, a reminder of our mortality, evidence of a complicated history, and perhaps even a way to decenter our human perspective. Throughout history, people have seen flowers as vessels to project all kinds of meanings and messages. At our happiest and saddest, at our birth and death, flowers have always been by our side.
Marion Cultural Alliance, in partnership with @Agapanthus Ocala, invited MCA artists working in any media to submit artwork that evokes the wonder of flora, flowers, and plants.
Exhibit Dates: June 4 - 26, 2021. All pieces are for sale and each sale supports our artists and MCA's mission of championing the arts in Ocala/Marion. Gallery hours are Tues. thru Friday, 10am to 5pm, and Saturdays, 11am to 4pm. Free admission, donations accepted.
